As of 8:30 am on 3/4/11, we have received $80,000 in pledges to support keeping St. Dominic Catholic School open! A first grader even donated her allowance of 21 dimes. We’ve also had present staff members pledge $1,000.00 in the midst of being told that their jobs are being terminated. What an awesome testimony to our school community!
This pledge drive is being led by Rick Leonard, a St. Dominic School parent. As Rick noted in his original email regarding this pledge drive on 3/2/11:
“As most of you or perhaps all of you know the future of St. Dominic school is uncertain. There are underlying factors driving this most notably financial concerns. We do not have the luxury of time so our organizational efforts are going to be a bit scattered but that’s life. We’ll deal with it.
Simply stated we need pledges of any amount and we need them now. There are plenty of reasons and excuses not to give. But there are plenty more reasons to give. If you have kids in 8th grade and they’ve benefited from the great leadership and foundation provided by Peggy and her staff, please show your appreciation by giving. Prayers are great but they need to be teamed up with pledges. If you have children in the other grades your reasons for giving are obvious.
In less than 24 hours we raised just under $10,000.00. In closing please don’t ignore this request and don’t procrastinate. Please email me with your pledges as soon as you can. We have to stay positive & focused on the goal of short term survival and long term planning. This is a fight we can win with your financial generosity and thoughtful prayer. Please spread the word and don’t be afraid to ask for pledges!”
